Developed a new method for residual stress measurement based on solutions from fracture mechanics. This work which was carried out under EPRI sponsorship was initially focused on nuclear reactor pressure vessel components. However, it has since found wide applications for other types of components. Developed a model to predict the strength of glass due to subsurface flaws. This project was sponsored by NSF.
