Berkeley Engineering And Research performed a prototype analysis for the fastening of high temperature, high strength, custom Inconel threaded fittings. The fittings, intended for use in an extremely high temperature and pressure environment, needed to be analyzed and tested to determine the appropriate method and magnitude for tightening the joint. These fittings are to be used in a pilot waste treatment plant using a proprietary process. The fittings need to be field installed using portable tools, with accurate control of the high torque assembly process. The photo shows BEAR's custom designed and fabricated hydraulic torquing tool.
