  Research & Prototyping: Corrosion

Documenting the inside of large vessels can be a huge problem. For many years, refineries had to rely on laser scanning only to inspect the inside of coke drums until the BEAR engineering team developed a robotic arm that allows imaging with either video or still cameras. The first prototype built was Charlie and she now lives mainly in South America helping refineries in Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. The second prototype, Fritzy lives in our Berkley labs but travels widely throughout the United States. The imaging system weighs less than 50 pounds and fits into boxes that can travel as check in luggage with a technician.

If you need more information how Frtizy might help in your imaging needs contact Dr. Sibylle Scholz.
