BEAR Engineers often consult on the construction of large structures. When the new Benicia Bridge was planned, BEAR was called in to help optimize construction efforts. Early on, BEAR performed an analysis of the concrete, steel, and plastic pipes involved to optimize the mounting of the plastic pipes within the assembly to cool the concrete. When concrete was ultimately poured into large forms containing steel rebar and plastic pipe, BEAR analysis was at work. The construction management team implemented BEAR know-how as it ran water through pipes in the concrete to control the rate of cooling.
